Ali Al Jabri, Ma’an, 1979
CONTEXT CLUES:
Ali Al Jabri was born to a prominent Syrian family and studied art in both Egypt and California before moving back to the Middle East. His artwork documented the everyday life, architecture, culture, and people around him. Some of his art also showed change and conflict; the results of modern life and technology as well as war, and how those things can cause culture and history to be lost.
The title of this painting translates to "together" or "interconnected." Who do you think the other person in the painting with Jabri might be?
