Yayoi Kusama, Portrait, 2015
CONTEXT CLUES:
Kusama is a contemporary (meaning still living and working) Japanese artist. She's known for her infinity nets - huge paintings of intricate dots and lines.
Kusama had an abusive childhood and started to have hallucinations at ten years old. She said that she would see huge fields of dots or lights, and she would paint them as a way to escape both her family and her own mind.
